Light Slurry Pump

Light Slurry Pump

Light slurry pumps are centrifugal pumps specifically designed to transport slurries containing fine solid particles (i.e., “slurry”). Compared to heavy-duty slurry pumps, which handle high-concentration, large-particle, highly abrasive slurries, the “light-duty” designation is primarily reflected in the following aspects

Shijiazhuang Ruite Pump Co., Ltd. is one of the most reliable manufacturers and suppliers of light slurry pump in China. Welcome to wholesale durable light slurry pump made in China here from our factory. All pumps are with high quality and competitive price.

Key Features

Handled Media

Suitable for conveying low-concentration, fine-particle, and relatively non-abrasive slurries. Examples include tailings from mineral processing plants, ash and slag from thermal power plants, sand-water mixtures from municipal wastewater treatment plants (such as grit chambers), dredged slurry from river dredging, and glaze slurry from the ceramics industry.

Materials

Flow parts (such as impellers, pump casings, and wear plates) are typically made of wear- and corrosion-resistant materials, such as high-chromium wear-resistant cast iron (e.g., Cr27) or rubber.

Compact Design

Smaller overall weight and volume.

Shaft Sealing

Most commonly uses a combination of a expeller and packing seal, or a mechanical seal.

Key Advantages

light slurry pump01

High Cost-Effectiveness

Initial investment and operating/maintenance costs are typically lower than those of heavy-duty slurry pumps.

light slurry pump02

Flexible and portable

Compact structure and lightweight design facilitate movement within plant premises or use in temporary projects.

light slurry pump03

High efficiency

Maintains good hydraulic efficiency when operating at the designed operating point.

Key Selection Parameters

  • When selecting a pump, the following parameters must be clearly defined to ensure suitability and service life:
  • Flow Rate (Q): The volume of slurry to be conveyed per unit time (m³/h).
  • Head (H): The total head the pump must provide (m).
  • Solid Particle Characteristics: Including particle size, particle size distribution, particle hardness (abrasiveness), particle shape, and specific gravity.
  • Slurry Characteristics: Weight concentration (Cw%), pH value, temperature, viscosity.
  • Operating Conditions: Installation method (horizontal/vertical/submersible), need for variable frequency drive, presence of corrosive gases, etc.

Operating and Maintenance Precautions

  • Never Run Dry: Slurry pumps must never be operated without water; doing so will rapidly burn out the mechanical seal or bearings.
  • Matching Operating Conditions: Ensure the pump operates within its high-efficiency range. Avoid prolonged operation at low flow rates or at points far from the optimal flow range to prevent accelerated wear, cavitation, or motor overload.
  • Regular Inspections: Monitor vibration, noise, temperature rise, and changes in flow and pressure. Regularly inspect the condition of the shaft seal and the wear of vulnerable parts, and replace them promptly.
  • Proper Start-up and Shutdown: For vertical and submersible models, ensure the pump body is submerged to a sufficient depth before starting.

Light-duty slurry pumps are a cost-effective choice for handling medium- to low-concentration slurries with fine particles. Proper selection, matching to operating conditions, and thorough maintenance are key to ensuring long-term, stable operation and optimal performance.
